The Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) today launched a new podcast that explores the choices we’re making every day in our homes, our work and our travel to reduce our energy use and tackle climate change.
180 Degrees, hosted by Tom Halpin, Head of Communications with SEAI, is a six-part series featuring a number of well-known Irish personalities. Experts including; architect Dermot Bannon, quantity surveyor Lisa O’Brien, meteorologist Liz Walsh, personal finance journalist and broadcaster Sinead Ryan, motoring expert Geraldine Herbert, and a number of climate action leaders and activists will join Tom on the podcast over the coming months.
Speaking about the launch of the new podcast, Tom Halpin said:
“Climate change is the greatest challenge facing us all today. Thankfully, there has been a huge shift in public consciousness over the last year. People are beginning to take on board the gravity of the situation and want to take action. The 180 Degrees podcast asks important questions about what we can do to make a difference in our daily lives.
The podcast will explore many the many options to help us reduce our carbon impact. It looks at the opportunities for individuals, communities and businesses to really shape our energy future.”
The first episode, which is available from today, looks at the future of electric cars in Ireland. Weighing up the pros and cons of driving electric will be car reviewer Geraldine Herbert, Mark Noble, aka Nobby from the Strawberry Alarm Clock on FM 104, and transport expert at SEAI, Graham Brennan.
Other guests featured in the series include: actor and climate change activist Aoibhéann McCann, Bernadette Phelan from Business in the Community Ireland; Ali Sheridan, Sustainable Leader at IKEA; Liam Delaney, Professor of Economics at UCD; Cool Planet Champion Karen Finigan; and journalists Kitty Holland, Kevin O’Sullivan, and Mark Hilliard.
