SSE Chief Executive Appointed as New EI President

Ian Marchant FEI becomes EI President (2013-15), taking on the role from Joan MacNaughton CB HonFEI, out-going EI President (2011-13).

Ian Marchant FEI, Chief Executive of SSE (formerly Scottish and Southern Energy), has been appointed as the new President of the Energy Institute (EI). The role is a voluntary position to be held for the period from June 2013 to summer 2015.

Ian Marchant became Chief Executive of SSE in 2002, having been Finance Director since 1998. He has worked in the energy industry since 1992, when he joined Southern Electric (which became SSE in 1998). He will be stepping down from the role at SSE at the end of June. Prior to this, he worked at PricewaterhouseCoopers. He is Senior Independent Director at the Aberdeen-based oil and energy company John Wood Group plc, Chairman of the Scotland 2020 Delivery Group, a member of Ofgem’s Environmental Advisory Group and a member of the Energy Research Partnership.
