Ecocem Launches its Next Generation Product to Consumers

Ecocem Ireland has launched its eco-friendly general purpose cement in a new 25kg bag. The launch means that Ecocem’s eco-friendly cement is now available for consumers to buy in local builder’s merchants and suppliers. The cement, which among other things reduces the carbon footprint of traditional cement by over 50%, is the highest quality, strongest, most durable, best looking and most environmental cement available in Ireland.

The product is the first cement of its kind available in a 25kg bag. Its benefits include increased strength and durability, a superior finish which is brighter and whiter in colour, and it is eco-friendly, with up to a 50% reduction on CO2 emissions.

Having already proved itself in large-scale construction projects like the Aviva Stadium, the Waterford Cable Stayed Bridge, the Giant’s Causeway Interpretative Centre and the NUI Galway – this product is now available in builders’ providers as an ideal product for builders or DIY enthusiasts.

Conor O’Riain, head of New Markets and Products at Ecocem Materials says: “Until now, the benefits of using Ecocem have been reserved to large scale projects such as the Aviva stadium. The benefits are  nowavailable to everyone in Ireland. The Irish builder now has exclusive access to the best available technology in cement bags.”

He adds: “Our product is revolutionary in Ireland, for no additional cost users get the highest strength, the best durability and a great colour. The cherry on the cake is that it is by far the best in terms of environmental performance. In fact, the product directly contributes to lower CO2 emissions, less use of Irish natural resources and a reduction in the imports of foreign fossil fuels.”

Ecocem’s guaranteed Irish product is now available off the shelf in builder’s providers throughout Ireland. The production of the new product has led to local employment and infrastructure investment in Ireland. Recently, Ecocem announced plans to create 61 jobs as part of a new three year, Eur19 million investment programme coinciding with the official opening of its new bagging plant at Dublin Port.

The new bagging operation will lead to the creation of 25 direct jobs and 36 indirect jobs. In fact, the bagging operation has already added 8 jobs permanent positions this year. Other developments will lead to expanded development of export markets (Bulk, Bagged and special products) in Scandinavia, the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, France and the UK.
