British design guru and Channel 4 Grand Designs presenter, Kevin McCloud, chose Accoya wood to be part of the recent ‘Kevin’s Green Heroes’ exhibition at the Grand Designs Live show held for the eighth consecutive year at ExCel London. Displayed at the show, Accoya wood was chosen for its recyclable, non-toxic properties and first class durability lasting at least 50 years above and 25 years in the ground.
‘Kevin’s Green Heroes’ showcases latest technologies, innovative ideas and the best eco-innovations on the market. They reflect Kevin’s own personal interests and demonstrate his industry expertise in the area of home redecoration, renovation and full scale, self-build projects.
Kevin McCloud, says: “This will be the third year we have done the ‘Green Heroes’ and from the start I wanted a mix of ideas: radical, environmentally-friendly products from large manufacturers that we should be using more; clever, recycled materials; items from small makers and craftspeople; low-energy technologies and brilliant cross-fertilized, creative ideas.”
Justin Peckham, relationship manager at Accsys Technologies, comments: “We are delighted that Accoya wood has been recognised for its sustainable technology solutions and listed in this year’s ‘Kevin’s Green Heroes’. With more than 80 years of Research & Development, distinguished by its durability, dimensional stability and reliability, our high-technology wood will play a leading role in the future construction market.”
