Irish windfarmers co-op society annual conference in city

MEITHEAL na Gaoithe, the Irish Windfarmers Cooperative Society Annual Conference will take place in Hotel Kilkenny, Co. Kilkenny, on Friday. With expectations heightened from the recent REFIT announcement in Brussels, Andrew Doyle TD, Chairperson of Oireachtas Committee on Communications, Natural Resources and Agriculture, will deliver the keynote address on the anticipations and prospects for the sector.

This will be followed by a presentation from Martin Finucane, Department of Communications, Energy and Natural Resources with the latest update on REFIT and what it will mean for Irish windfarm developers.

Other notable speakers are Garrett Blaney, Commission of Energy Regulation, who will speak on the task of ‘Facilitating Renewables’ in order to meet national targets.

Planning, connection and financing are all important topics on the conference agenda and proceedings will close with a presentation from Niall McManus of Cosain on ‘Green Certificate Trading’, a potential sleeping opportunity for windfarm developers.

Meitheal na Gaoithe, Irish Wind Farmers Co-operative Society was set up in 2000 to support and facilitate the development of small to medium scale wind energy projects at a local ownership level in Ireland.

Since its establishment, Meitheal na Gaoithe has acted as an effective representative body for these projects at both local and national level, together with providing services at ground level. Meitheal na Gaoithe is Ireland’s representative body for independent Windfarm developers.
