Carbon Trading – Business Opportunity Workshop -Tuesday 23 November 2010 at 6pm

Ideagen is an ideas generation workshop programme which is being promoted by Enterprise Ireland nationally. The focus of Tuesday’s workshop at Kemmy Business School, University of Limerick is on carbon emissions and what is happening now they are capped, trading commenced and prices set. The workshop brings together the financial services research community, entrepreneurs and sectoral experts to brainstorm potential business opportunities downstream of this high level carbon trading activity.

The potential for industry to exploit opportunities from the trading of surplus credits for its carbon emissions will be a focus for discussion at an innovative brainstorming event which Enterprise Ireland is hosting in association with the financial services department of the University of Limerick.

The event’s objectives are two fold – first to inform, with informative keynote presentations from policy formers and key market players and secondly for participants to network and work at identifying some of the key new business opportunities that Emissions Trading can offer indigenous Irish businesses.

It is therefore timely, that an event such as this is taking place which will help to identify potential opportunities for business arising from this emerging market sector. A number of eminent speakers will present at the event including : Prof. Frank Convery, UCD, author of ‘Pricing Carbon – The European Union Emissions Trading Scheme’, Stephen Nolan, Project Leader, the National Green IFSC project and Paul Harris, Head of Natural Resource Risk Management, Bank of Ireland Global Markets.
