November 10th 2011: An Taoiseach Enda Kenny congratulated Dublin based research facility, airmid healthgroup on their world first, of becoming ISO accredited in a biomedical field of indoor air pollution and health.
International Health Trends suggest this Dublin based facility has a big role to play in enhancing Ireland’s reputation as a World leader in Life & Health Science research. The Global Allergy & Asthma European Network predicts that within the next 4 years, 50% of the population will suffer from at least one allergy. Coupled with the trend for building regulators and consumers to seal their homes for energy efficiency, the impact consumer products used in these indoor environments have on health is becoming increasingly important. The accreditation they have received is for indoor surface samples for Cat & House Dust Mite Allergen analysis, ISO 17025.
INAB accredited testing laboratoryWith core expertise in the area of preventing ill health due to indoor air pollutants, airmid scientists apply their skills to evaluate the complex interactions of biological, chemical and physical properties associated with consumer products, and provide customers with a complete solution for healthy living and label claim validation.
The foresight of leading Irish physicians Dr Bruce Mitchell & Dr John McKeon has placed airmid healthgroup at the front of the environmental-health innovation curve. Often described by their partners as a specialised extension to their own Research & Development capabilities, airmid’s core asset of multidisciplined scientists add value by translating complex results into user-friendly test reports.
Founded in 2007, their gold standard science has established airmid healthgroup as an exclusive analytical and test facility for certification body Allergy Standards Ltd, whose clients include leading International asthma & allergy groups, such as the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America, the Asthma Society of Canada and Asthma UK. Clients of these certification programmes comprise of world leading manufacturers such as Valspar, LG and Dyson, with products in Lowes, Costco and Wal-Mart. airmid healthgroup was named after AIRMID, the Celtic Goddess of Health.
“The companies we work with are proactive leaders in the global drive to reduce ill health due to indoor air pollutants —a major cause of the asthma and allergies that affect a growing percentage of the population” says airmid CEO Dr Bruce Mitchell. “Third-party testing is an important component of customer value proposition, and we’re glad to play a role in efforts by manufacturers to innovate health related products. Becoming the first ISO 17025 accredited laboratory in the World for Cat & House Dust Mite Allergen testing is something we are proud of, and gives manufacturers and consumers the peace of mind they are investing in the best”.
“airmid healthgroup reflects the huge achievements of Ireland in the area of life sciences, and in biomedical research in particular. Ireland is now in the top 20 in the world for the quality and relevance of our scientific research and due to the efforts of companies like airmid, we are now the number one location in Europe for Life sciences projects. And this strength is reflected in terms of multinational investment, exports and jobs” said An Taoiseach, Enda Kenny
