GT Energy, the leading developer of deep geothermal energy projects in the UK and Ireland, has appointed former Airtricity chief executive, Paul Dowling, to its board of directors. Paul Dowling has over 20 years of management and business development experience in the renewable energy sector. He led the renewable energy business for SSE as chief executive of Airtricity and was part of the team that sold the company for €1.8 billion in 2008.
Other previous roles included head of strategy for Scottish and Southern Energy Group which involved strategy formulation, ventures investments, business development and research activities for the SSE group. Paul Dowling is a Chartered Engineer and holds an MBA from Trinity College.

Established in 2007, GT Energy is a pioneering Irish company engaged in the development of deep geothermal energy systems in Ireland and the UK. It was the first company in Ireland to initiate private exploration into geothermal resources having drilled test wells to a depth of 1,400 metres in Newcastle, County Dublin.
