The Environmental Challenges Facing the Irish Forestry Industry

The 2011 Augustine Henry Lecture at the RDS, Dublin will review how our knowledge of environmental matters relating to forestry has changed over the past 20 years. The lecture will also outline the challenges and opportunities currently facing the forestry and biodiversity industry in Ireland.

The RDS, in association with the Society of Irish Foresters, welcomes Professor John O’Halloran, head of the School of Biological, Earth and Environmental Sciences, UCC, to present this year’s Augustine Henry Forestry Lecture. Professor O’Halloran has been engaged in research on forest environmental issues for more than 20 years and has worked extensively in the UK and North America. He is a graduate of UCC and has published widely for which he was awarded his Doctorate of Science by the National University of Ireland in 2009.

Admission to the lecture is free and open to the public. Advance booking is essential. The lecture will take place on Thursday, March 10th, 2011 at 7.30pm, in the RDS Dodder B.
