Engineering, design and consultancy company Ramboll has announced the appointment of Guy Milligan as Principal Consultant within its energy division. A renewable energy specialist, Guy will be leading the development of Ramboll’s new energy strategy and planning (ESP) service, guiding clients as they plan ambitious future energy systems and infrastructure to meet net-zero carbon targets.
Guy joins Ramboll from Natural Power, where he developed the business’ renewable heat offering. With 14 years’ worth of experience working in the energy sector, and particular expertise in the planning and delivery of district energy networks, Guy has worked on schemes varying in scale for both private and public sector clients.
In his role at Ramboll, Guy will be supporting clients to plan a whole system approach to decarbonisation through the ESP service (factoring in energy efficiency, heat, power and transportation systems). delivering efficient and sustainable solutions and drawing upon the expertise and skills from Ramboll colleagues in international offices. He will play a leading role in Ramboll’s city-level report for one of the UK’s most sustainable and ambitious cities, as it reviews its existing energy systems to help meet a net-zero carbon target by 2030.
Commenting on his appointment, Guy said, “I am excited to be joining Ramboll, a business whose sustainable objectives align with my own motivation to help tackle climate change. I look forward to working alongside colleagues who are experts in both district energy and renewable energy, as we work towards delivering solutions for clients to meet the ambitious, but vital target of net-zero carbon.”
Paul Steen, Department Manager of Ramboll’s UK District Energy team, added, “Our clients are rapidly responding to the climate emergency and asking us to provide solutions across the whole energy system. We have worked with Guy for a number of years and his appointment to the energy division will play a key role in delivering our new ESP service, which will help clients plan for the transition to net-zero. In the past our emphasis has been placed on the need to decarbonise heating systems, to help private developers, landlords, local authorities and campus estate directors meet net-zero. The ESP service will extend our coordinated services providing a multi-faceted approach to decarbonising heat, power and transport systems.”
Guy’s appointment follows a year of growth for Ramboll’s District Energy team, with seven appointments across 2019 including Amey Karnick and Candice De Bartolo, who join as Senior Engineers, and Lisa Pardini and Ross Connell, who join as Graduate Engineers.
