WHOLESALE gas prices plummeted by a whopping 41 per cent in February due to an “overwhelming” supply in Europe, according to the latest business report by Vayu Energy.
The dramatic drop – also linked to weak demand – has led to the on-going review of consumer tariffs with SSE Airtricity the latest supplier to announce a reduction in prices.
Northern Ireland’s second largest home energy provider announced a 10 per cent cut in gas and electricity prices on Friday – saving households in the greater Belfast area who use both types of energy over £100 per year.
It follows an announcement earlier this month by Power NI which said it would be dropping prices for its 500,000 domestic electricity customers by 10.3 per cent from April.
