It was announced today that energy provider Energia has won a bundled energy contract worth over €36m to supply gas to hundreds of state agencies, local authorities, schools, hospitals and public housing projects around Ireland.
Energia will provide gas supplies to over 705 different sites and offices across Ireland over a two year period.
Included in the contract are landmark sites including the Houses of the Oireachtas, Dublin Castle, the National Gallery, Farmleigh, Kilmainham Gaol and the National Museum of Ireland. They will also supply the Revenue Commissioners, the Office of Public Works, the National Transport Authority, Failte Ireland and the Ordinance Survey of Ireland.
Business Markets Manager at Energia, Alan Mulcahy said, “We are delighted that our competitive gas offering has won this major public sector supply contract.
These contracts were bundled together to ensure the best value for money possible was achieved for Irish taxpayers when choosing an energy supplier – we’re delighted Energia was chosen. We have developed a winning set of gas and electricity offerings for both public and private sector organisations throughout Ireland.”
Energia is one of the biggest suppliers of gas to the Irish business market, accounting for over 30% of gas supplies. This follows on from the success Energia have had in the business electricity market, where Energia has over 60,000 business customers – 23% of the business electricity market.
