OxyMem is the only Irish finalist in the 2014 Platts Global Energy Awards. Often described as the ‘Oscars of the energy industry’, the Athlone based company has been recognised in the Leading Technology – Sustainable Innovation category
Companies from 26 countries have been selected as finalists for the Platts Global Energy Awards, an annual awards program recognising exemplary industry leadership. The 2014 finalists, chosen from nearly 250 nominees from dozens of nominating countries and representing 6 continents, were announced today by program host Platts.
Established in 1999 and often described as “the Oscars of the energy industry,” the Global Energy Awards highlight corporate and individual innovation, leadership and superior performance in 18 categories that span the entire energy complex. OxyMem were announced as finalists in the Leading Technology – Sustainable Innovation category.
On hearing the news, OxyMem’s Managing Director, Wayne Byrne said “It’s always humbling to be nominated for an award, but being nominated on a global stage is outstanding”. “The announcement endorses OxyMem as a global innovative solution for one of the largest energy consuming industries in the world” he added.
OxyMem, the awards only Irish finalist, will now go forward to a panel of judges, made up of former OPEC energy ministers, national regulators, former heads of major energy companies and leading academics and legislators. Winners will be announced at the 2014 Platts Global Energy Awards black-tie dinner on December 11 in New York City.
