Nualight has won the overall Judges Award at the 2011 Cleantech Connect Awards in London. Some of the hottest and fastest-growing green-tech firms in Europe came down to the final 10 at the awards, held last night.
The 10 finalists came from a variety of clean-tech sectors, including water, solar, smart grid, transportation, and energy efficiency.
LED-lighting company Nualight is a venture capital-backed firm that specialises in the lighting of food retail displays.
According to the organisers, the Judges Award is given to “the overall favourite, a leading contender in all categories. This company has already proven itself and is making a real impact on a global scale”.
In early September, the company acquired Lumoluce, a Dutch LED-lighting technology firm, for just under €11m. At the time, Nualight said it was aiming to help food retailers reap energy savings of up to 40pc by switching to LED lighting.
The acquisition of Lumoluce was expected to bring Nualight’s revenues to just more than €25m for 2011.
Speaking last night, Dr Liam Kelly, CEO, Nualight, spoke about how winning the award at the Cleantech Connect Awards was recognition of Nualight’s aim to become the market leader in LED lighting for food retail.
“Innovation, ambition and focus have driven our success in this market and this award is a tribute to the calibre and commitment of Nualight’s people, and to our global customers who have adopted Nualight lighting solutions,” he said.
