As you maybe aware IWEA is currently reviewing the Best Practice Guidelines for the Irish Wind Energy Industry with the intention of revising and updating in line with legislative changes and industry developments in best practice.
The Best Practice Guidelines for the Irish Wind Energy Industry were originally published in 2008 with the support of SEAI, recognizing the need for more specific and updated best practice guidance. The purpose of these guidelines is to encourage responsible and sensitive wind farm development. The guidelines cover the planning and environmental aspects of a windfarm project development from site selection and pre planning assessment, planning /EIA stage, construction stage, operational stage and site decommissioning stage. They provide a consistent and robust approach for windfarm development and management throughout the lifetime of the windfarm to be used across the industry.
In order to ensure a comprehensive review of the existing guidelines is achieved we would like to consult with industry and key stakeholders on the proposed updates.
Draft document for consultation
