The Department of Environment, Heritage and Local Government has published three new booklets in the Advice Series on the care and maintenance of older and historic buildings. These booklets are entitled – Energy Efficiency in Traditional Buildings; Ruins – the conservation and repair of masonry ruins; and Roofs – a guide to the repair of historic roofs.
These are in addition to Iron – the repair of wrought and cast ironwork – and Bricks – a guide to the repair of historic brickwork published in 2009 and general maintenance and the care of historic windows published in 2007. It is intended to publish booklets on topics such as Thatch, The Conservation of Places of Public Worship and Access – improving the accessibility of historic buildings and places, a collaborative project with the National Disability Authority.
