The European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) has awarded the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) almost £1.1 million to establish a project that will increase the uptake of small wind technologies (SWT) by SMEs, improving the efficiency, quality, reliability and safety of the systems.
The project will support SMEs, including manufacturers, suppliers, consultants, installers, service providers, wind farms and all end-users of wind turbines in the wind energy sector in the northwest of England with SWT. The support and development will improve the efficiency, quality, reliability and safety of SWT systems, reducing the cost per unit (kWh) of electricity generated by the SWT systems.
ERDF allocates funding to different regions throughout the European Union to boost economic development in less prosperous areas.
