Ireland’s leading utilities and energy management company, Dalkia, has achieved ISO 50001 Energy Management Systems certification across twelve sites throughout the island of Ireland. This success is in conjunction with the company’s previous award for ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems, and it marks Dalkia as an innovation leader in the energy business, in Ireland and worldwide.
Dalkia achieved certification with Certification Europe, which provides ISO Management System certification to organisations globally.
Certification Europe’s CEO, Michael Brophy, comments: “Not only have Dalkia pushed the boundaries in energy management, and put themselves among a very selected group of organisations worldwide that have achieved the Energy Management standard (ISO 50001), but they had the self-belief, in fact you could say the nerve, to do this across twelve sites at once, which is a first in Ireland.”
Dalkia’s certified twelve locations include plants creating energy with combined heat and power and headquarters providing expert consultancy with some of the largest businesses inIrelandincluding Diageo, Pfizer and Kerry Group. The company also plans to extend the scope of certification over the coming years to all those customer sites on the island where they take commitment on energy performance.
Brian Fitzgerald, Environmental, Health and Safety Manager at Dalkia, comments: “Creating energy progress is at the core of Dalkia’s business and identity. As such, it is fundamental that our leadership in this area is backed up by the relevant independent certification. Only in this way, can we demonstrate to our customers, themselves leaders in their industries, that what we do is aligned to and can help them achieve their objectives for continuous improvement in energy management.”
Brian Fitzgerald elaborates: “The ISO 50001 certification also enables us to ensure consistency in our approach to energy management across all our customer sites and industries, while still customising our work with each of them to their own local systems and requirements. This means that we now have a very robust, coordinated documentation in place to describe how we ensure best practice and continuous improvement in energy management throughout our whole Dalkia Ireland organisation.”
