Flood Relief Works to be Undertaken In Ennis

One of the most badly affected areas of Ennis during serious flooding last November is to benefit from flood relief works. Ennis Town Council has signed a contract with BAM Civil, Galway, to construct the Aughanteeroe Flood Alleviation Scheme.

The need for flood alleviation works at Aughanteeroe, Gort Road, Ennis was identified in the Ennis Main Drainage & Flood Study Preliminary Report.

The section was originally included in the River Fergus Lower, (Ennis) Drainage Scheme, Bank Place bridge to Doora bridge. It was subsequently separated out to advance the works.

The works will commence on Monday 9th August and are due to be completed within four months at a cost of Eur250,000. The main lower scheme will commence on site before year end.
