Lisa Balk joins GridBeyond

Lisa Balk joins GridBeyond as Sales Director – Australia, to support the energy transition of the energy market through AI energy solutions, Demand Side Response and energy flexibility.

GridBeyond, the world’s leading technology player for managing distributed and flexible energy resources, has appointed Lisa Balk as Sales Director to help deliver energy demand flexibility services in Australia.

The Australian energy market, which aims at reaching net zero by 2050, has a strong political shift away from fossil fuels and towards renewable energy, which strengthens the business case for demand flexibility in Australia.

The latest Integrated System Plan (ISP), published on 30 June by the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) notes that significant market and technical reforms are underway to manage a secure and efficient transformation to a low-emissions grid including: capacity mechanism, Essential System Services and DER Integration. In such a changing scenario, Lisa will bring more than 20 years’ experience consistently delivering significant growth across multiple sectors including construction, renewable energy, and property industries.

Lisa has a strong track record of success and advancement in the areas of change management, team development, leading and implementing best practice sales strategies, coaching and mentoring. Prior to joining GridBeyond Lisa worked for AGL Energy in the Sustainable Business Energy Solutions division as the National commercial sales manager.

On joining GridBeyond Sales Director Lisa Balk said:

“Australia is taking steps to support the transition of the energy sector towards renewables. The recent suspension of the power has shown the importance of having a flexible energy market that can be harnessed from demand side response.

“Working for GridBeyond is a great opportunity to help Australia through this transition, to ensure a more reliable grid and help the country to achieve its net zero goal by 2050.”

Mark Davis, Managing Director – Australia commented:

“We are delighted to have Lisa joining GridBeyond. The energy sector in Australia is going through many changes and to have Lisa with us will help the company to navigate these changes, while we look at building on our relationships with I&C customers, retailers, utilities and energy asset owners in Australia over the coming years”.
