Roadmap to Decarbonise Ireland’s Built Environment Launch

Roadmap to decarbonise Ireland’s built environment to be launched at Build Green Now 2022– Dublin, Friday 6th May

The IPPC’s climate report published last week highlighted once again that without significant reductions in carbon emissions across all sectors, global warming cannot be limited to 1.5°C.

At Build Green Now conference, the Irish Green Building Council will launch a draft roadmap to decarbonise Ireland’s built environment across its whole life cycle. The draft document was developed in close cooperation with key stakeholders. For the first time, it also includes information on carbon emissions associated with construction and the built environment in Ireland across its whole life cycle, as well as projections on the impact of the National Development Plan, the retrofit programme and the housing for all strategy on Ireland’s emissions.

Highlights of the day will include:

  • Opening remarks by Eamon Ryan, Minister for Environment, Climate, Communications and Transport
  • Panel discussions with industry leaders on their decarbonisation strategies, as well as ESG and meeting zero emissions targets
  • Panel discussion on the decarbonisation of Ireland’s built environment with Ciaran Cuffe MEP and EPBD Rapporteur, Frances Fitzgerald MEP, Eoin O’Broin TD and Sinn Fein’s Spokesperson on Housing, and Cian O’Callaghan TD and Social Democrats’ Spokesperson on Housing.
