AES Launches New RCV Fleet for Kildare

AES-Bord Na Móna, Kilcullen, Kildare – Full Fleet and Staff – Punchestown.

AES Bord na Móna have continued the upgrade of its waste collection fleet with the addition of 13 new refuse collection vehicles (RCVs) for its Kildare operations.

With an asset value of nearly €3 million, these new RCVs operate out of the Silliot Hill civic amenity site in Kilcullen, and will enable AES to provide a reliable, efficient, and professional service to its customers in Kildare and West Wicklow. This brings to over 60 vehicles that have been added to the AES Fleet in the past 3 years.

This new fleet comprises a mix of Renault and Dennis Euro 6 engines and chassis, along with Olympus bodies, Terberg lifting equipment, and AMCS weighing technology. They also come equipped with a range of new safety features, as well as a number of other enhancements geared towards a greater environmentally efficient and quiet performance.

As with the two 171 split body RCVs already operating in Kildare, these new RCVS feature Euro 6 engines that include an SCR post treatment system for reducing emissions, as well as exhaust gases recirculation during engine start-up phases, and the use of controlled valves at the intake and the exhaust, along with specific combustion technologies. The RCVs also include an on-board Opti-Fuel engine management system, which is designed to reduce fuel consumption, while helping monitor vehicle performance and carrying out adjustments to achieve fuel efficiency improvements from the engine and the gearbox functions. This system is complemented by the CMS Supatrak fleet telematics system, which is installed in all AES vehicles.

Commenting on this new fleet, Ciaran Brady, Head of Bord na Móna Resource Recovery added; “This investment in our fleet further underpins our commitment to providing a quality and efficient service for our customers. AES is committed to continually looking for advancements in our front-end waste collection service as well as our back-end waste recovery and recycling operations to ensure that we offer our customers an environmentally and responsible service”.

AES also provides a domestic and commercial skip delivery and collection service for Kildare customers, with a number of specialist hook and chain trucks also operating in the Kildare area.
