ESB achieves re-accreditation to the Business Working Responsibly Mark

The Business Working Responsibly Mark is Ireland’s only independently verified assessment of company sustainability and corporate responsibility performance. In 2011 ESB were one of the first four companies in Ireland to receive the mark and we have received re-accreditation at the annual Business in the Community Chief Executive’s Forum.

The Mark is awarded following a comprehensive assessment of company performance against an extensive range of indicators covering the workplace, marketplace community and environment. As part of the process ESB completed an extensive questionnaire against which we were audited by the NSAI.

The retention of the BWR Mark is an important milestone in our sustainability and corporate responsibility journey. We can see the progress we have made in every area of activity since we first participated in 2011 and we can see, from our experience this time around of the areas for future focus.

Speaking after the presentation of the Mark to ESB, Chief Executive Pat O’Doherty said how proud he was that ESB had achieved re-accreditation. “Staff throughout the company are making real changes, working more efficiently and really thinking through how they can contribute to a sustainable future for our company, our customers and the communities in which we operate. The BWR Mark is an important external validation of our progress to date and we would like to thank Business In the Community Ireland for developing this unique, practical tool.”
