Waste Management Solutions met with Amanda back in March 2011. Up to March 2011 their waste was collected on a weekly basis and they were roughly using 3 x 1100L bins per week. They baled their cardboard and both cardboard and plastics were collected free of charge.
Waste Management Solutions recommended the installation of a Bin Compactor for compressing the 1100L bins. This solution would cut down on the number of waste collections and reduce the number of bins required.
Amanda Carabine reported “Since we purchased the Bin Compactor in early 2011 we have seen a dramatic decrease in our waste costs.”
The installation of the Bin Compactor reduced the number of 1100L bins required to two and collections we extended to every three weeks. This impacted greatly on the waste costs that Brogans Spar were paying, as you can see below:

As you can see from the figures above, their waste costs for the second year (after purchasing the Bin Compactor) were almost 70% less than the previous year and within one year they had saved the purchase cost of the Bin Compactor.
