Toshiba Air Conditioning certified carbon neutral following reduction programme

Toshiba Air Conditioning has been officially recognised as a carbon neutral business after it carried out an intensive carbon reduction programme, said the company.

The project required a detailed assessment of energy consumption and carbon emissions across all of the company’s activities and included supporting certified carbon offsetting projects with verification and certification body The CarbonNeutral Company.

David Dunn, Toshiba’s commercial director, said: “It’s a huge achievement and something we are very proud of. Customers are increasingly concerned about the environment and corporate responsibility. After a huge amount of analysis and subsequent work, Toshiba Air Conditioning is now a certified CarbonNeutral division of TCUK.”

He added: “We believe the investment is good for both the environment and for business. Customers can be confident that not only is Toshiba leading the industry in terms of product performance and efficiency, but we are also leading as a company in terms of environmental responsibility.”

The programme started last year with a detailed Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions Assessment to quantify the total greenhouse gases produced both directly and indirectly by the company’s activities.

David Dunn said: “We believe in investing in being an environmentally responsible company. Many of our major end user customers are pursuing similar policies, and increasingly prefer doing business with suppliers whose green credentials are as impeccable as their own. It is a win-win, for business and the environment.”

Toshiba worked with sustainability consultant Ecometrica to carry out a detailed audit of all its activities.
